- Yes, you are supprted at roughly the same financial level of others in the community where you live. It's easy to get an info. packet from them. Just call.
- Yes, the PeaceCorps provides a stipend to serving members. HOWEVER, at 17, with no degree, your application to such will not be accepted -- the PeaceCorps needs people with at least Bachelor degrees (they prefer Master's), and a great deal of expertise in a specific area.
The PC program is HIGHLY competitive, and MOST applicants aren't accepted. If you want to be in the PeaceCorps some day, then a degree in something health-related will be highly valued, as will the ability to work in another language (French or Portuguese for Africa), and lots of experience volunteering where you are right now -- for instance, in a program to educate youth about HIV/AIDS prevention.
The following web page gives detailed advice on how to position yourself to some day work for the PeaceCorps (or UN Volunteers or VSO or some other long-term volunteer placement agency), and links to lots of other resources.

It has links to all of the web sites for the aforementioned organizations as well.
